Throwback Thursday, April 2, 2015
Today we throw back to the year 2009, at the RM auction in downtown Monterey on Historics weekend. This is only the second Porsche tractor I'd ever seen (or have seen since).
It is a 1959 108 Jr. tractor and makes a whopping 14 bhp at 2,250 rpm and and is powered by an 822 cc single-cylinder, air-cooled diesel engine. It sold for $28,600 that evening (which was my birthday). For those of you didn't know, this is one of the many things that Dr. Ferdinand Porsche designed before he introduced the world to the iconic cars bearing his (and the Volkswagen) name.
Yes folks, the men who brought us the Ferrari and the Lamborghini, first brought us farm equipment. Go figure.
