***HAPPY FOURTH of JULY from The Loud Pedal***

The Loud Pedal would like to wish it's reader(s) a very Happy 4th of July! On the day we celebrate America's independence, we'd like to share with you one of the biggest, baddest and most American cars of all time.  We caught this shot of the 1976 Corvette widebody "Spirit of Le Mans," created by John Greenwood (in collaboration with GM designers and management which included the legendary innovator Zora Arkus-Duntov), coming off of the auction block at the R&M Monterey auction of 2013 after a lucky bidder claimed it with an $874,000 bid!

The appropriately numbered behemoth Vette is powered by a 600 cu. in. (est.)1000 horsepower cross ram fuel injected V8!  The only thing that would make this car more American is if it ran on a mixture of moonshine and apple pie!  When we see this car we hear brass bands (sometimes Lee Greenwood) and have the overwhelming urge to place our hands on our hearts.
