Inside McLaren F1

Formula 1  historically has been a very secretive sport as the typical behind the scenes sports footage (think NFL Films) doesn’t really happen.   Inside this secret circle of the titans of the automotive world McLaren is one of the most storied teams that also has been hesitate to pull back the veil.  McLaren in its partnership with Honda has suffered their worst results in recent years making it puzzling as to why they would want to highlight their difficulties.

Amazon Prime video announced a new series focused on the 2017 campaign of McLaren-Honda.  What makes this surprising is McLaren was willing to open the doors on their disastrous relationship with Honda.

GRAND PRIX Driver will take viewers through Vandoorne’s first few months with McLaren-Honda, including his grueling training regime, the highly anticipated launch of the new 2017 car and testing at Barcelona. Prime members will get to see challenges within the team, including rare insight into Alonso and his fierce drive to claim a third championship, new McLaren Executive Director Zak Brown’s quest for sponsorship in this expensive sport and the car build process, including the installation of the new Honda engine, which no team has previously allowed.

All four episodes of the series will be availble on February 9th.
