Throwback Thursday, July 30, 2015, "Seen in the Historics Paddock Edition"

In anticipation of our annual pilgrimage to Monterey for the Historic Motorsports Reunion (then just "Historics"), I thought I'd give you an example of one of the reasons we love the event so much.  The year was 2006 and the featured car was Cooper.  We were lounging around in the DeWitt Motorsports Hospitality Pavilion when the latest addition of the DeWitt's car collection showed up on a trailer, fresh from restoration.

The 1954 Kurtis 500M.

It was fantastic enough just to see the aluminum and fiberglass beast, as there we only about 20 made between 1954 and 1955.  Until then, we didn't even know if it's existence.  But the icing on the whole thing, and the kind of thing that makes this event so awesome, is that a couple of Frank Kurtis' kids were also in attendance, and it turned into an actual family reunion of sorts.

It was a pretty cool thing to experience, and it's just the kind of "thing" that happens at this event every year.  If you keep your eyes and ears peeled as you walk around, you'll undoubtedly have an experience like this and you might even learn something!

Happy Thursday!
