Motorsport Weekend Preview: 24 Hours of Daytona.
If you want to see a season begin with a Super Bowl this weekend is for you. This weekend is the beginning of the North American sports car racing season with the running of the 24 Hours of Daytona. After a winter break teams and drivers will start the season with a grueling 24 hour race of survival.
This year marks the 52nd anniversary of the 24 hour race and it will also serve as the season opener for the new TUDOR United Sports Car Championship. The TUDOR Championship is the result of the merger between the American LeMans Series and the Grand Am Rolex Series. What does this mean in plain terms? The two pinnacle series of north American sports car racing have come together as one. This weekend the 24 Hours of Daytona features 67 cars on track in three prototype classes and two GT classes racing each other in class and vying for the overall win.
