Video of the Week- Porsche 919 Evo

The Porsche 919 is a modern legend.  After 33 races, the 919 Hybrid is credited with 17 wins, three constructors' championships, three drivers' championships, and three outright victories at the 24 Hours of Le Mans. Last season was the final run for the Porsche 919 in competition as Porsche announced they would no longer compete in the P1 category of the World Endurance Challenge.  Yet, the story is not over.

Porsche has revised the spec of the 919 to create a tribute car that doesn't need to comply with any series rules meaning that Porsche could turn up the power and tweak the aerodynamics.  It produces 720 horsepower.

In their first outing the Porsche 919 Hybrid Evo set a new lap record at Spa in Belgium.  Neel Jani set a 1:41.77 to beat the prior record of 1.42:533 that was previously set by Lewis Hamilton in a Mercedes w07 F1 car.  Yes, you read that right.  Porsche just set a lap record that beat a Formula 1 car.
