Mention the name Steve McQueen and racing fans around the world will pause.  While most people know his name as its connected to acting the rest of us know him as racer who did some acting on the side.   His son Chad McQueen carried on that spirit and was involved in motorsports at an early age.

In the 2005 season of the Rolex Sports Car Series (predecessor of the current United Sports Car Championship) Chad McQueen competed in three races.  We were at Laguna Seca for the 4th race of the season as Chad drove for Westernesse Racing.  It was a memorable moment to see Chad, who looks so much like his father, continue the family tradition as he climbed into his car to take to the track.

Unfortunately, the next year Chad would suffer career ending injuries while testing at Daytona International Speedway.  While he may not race anymore he still makes appearances at various racing events as he was spotted most recently at the Rennsport Reunion at Laguna Seca.  He is also the narrator for an upcoming film detailing his dad's making of LeMans, considered by many, including us, to be the greatest race movie ever made.
